Emergency School Closing Information

Each year, parents are asked to complete an emergency release form to provide contact information in the event that school is dismissed early because of severe weather or another emergency.

In the event of hazardous weather conditions, the superintendent of schools will make the determination if schools should be closed. School officials will notify the following sources as to the status of the school closing or delayed opening:

    Television: 
        Channels 2, 11, 13, and 26 Houston

    Radio Stations:

        91.3 FM Prairie View             106.1 FM Bryan/College Station

        94.1 FM Brenham                 1280 AM Brenham

In an effort to provide parents, community organizations and the public with reliable information regarding school closures due to man-made or natural disasters, the District is registered to use the School Closing Notification System through Region IV Education Service Center. The system will notify the media (TV and Radio Stations) via email, alphanumeric pagers and fax machines of school closures to inform the public. As a service to you, the system is also created to notify you via email. You may add your email address to the database by visiting http://www.school-closings.net/ then choose “Add your email” on the left side of the menu screen.
