Lauren Kubin Recognized as Secondary New Teacher of the Month at HISD

This is the image for the news article titled Lauren Kubin Recognized as Secondary New Teacher of the Month at HISDLauren Kubin was recognized as the Secondary New Teacher of the Month during the September monthly professional development session at Hempstead ISD.  As a new teacher of the month at Hempstead ISD, she received a #risktaker t-shirt donated by MaBisha Stubblefield and a certificate to display in her room.


Kubin is a new teacher at Hempstead Middle School who teaches 7th grade math. "She stepped up to assist other math teachers in the district by providing professional development in August," said Melissa Skinner, HISD Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction. "She is willing to share her knowledge and resources to create a learner centered environment. We are excited to have Ms. Kubin join our HISD team," said Skinner.


Kubin is a Texas A&M University Class of 2011 graduate who recently received her Masters Degree in Education Technology Leadership from Lamar University in 2015. This past summer, she moved from Channelview to a town nearby with her two year old son, Caleb, and her dog, Coco, so that her son could become a Hempstead Bobcat.


"I'm very passionate about education and work hard to differentiate math instruction to meet the needs of all students by making math fun in my middle school math classroom," said Kubin.


In her spare time, Kubin enjoys the outdoors, a variety of music, visual and performing arts, reading, cooking, and updating her YouTube Math Channel to help children learn math.  She shared that a song that continues to inspire her to achieve her goals and dreams is "Life's A Dance" by John Michael Montgomery.
