“Launching the Next Generation” is the theme for 2020 as we take time this month to honor our school board trustees for their dedicated leadership in public education and continuing service to the children of the Hempstead Community.
The men and women currently serving Hempstead ISD are President Ricky Pearce, Vice President Tressey Wilson, Secretary Connie Wawarofsky, Scott Bush, Albert Garfield, Mildred Jefferson, and Kay Kloecker.
Too often we neglect to recognize the dedication of these local citizens who work without pay. Each year the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) encourages communities to show appreciation to these individuals for their unfailing commitment to the success of all students.
January is School Board Recognition Month and Hempstead ISD is joining other districts across the state to thank these community volunteers for their commitment and contributions to our public schools.
We ask everyone to join in celebrating School Board Recognition Month, and to take a moment to express appreciation to these local leaders for their dedication and willingness to serve as advocates for our children and public schools.
Preparing today’s students to be productive citizens and the leaders of tomorrow is a tremendous task. As elected officials, school board members are the voice of their communities, serving first and foremost in the best interest of our students.
Usually, we don’t think of school board members as school volunteers, but they do in fact volunteer to serve. School board members give their time, energy, and counsel to the school district—without pay. They take on the job of governing the district—making the best decisions they can for our children—with the full understanding that they will receive only the satisfaction of their contribution.
Great leadership always begins with a willing heart, a positive attitude, and a desire to make a difference. Please join the students and staff of Hempstead ISD as we applaud these local leaders and take a moment to thank a school board member for caring about the future of our children and giving so much to our community.
