Hempstead ISD Adorns Tree at State Capitol

Hempstead ISD helped spread a little holiday cheer at the Texas State Capitol this year.  The Honorable Cecil Bell, Jr., Texas House Member, placed a special glass ornament on the Texas House Chamber Christmas Tree to represent House District 3.  This year’s ornament was hand crafted by Guadalupe Hernandez, a student at Hempstead High School.

The ornament, which displays the Welcome to Hempstead sign and water tower, will be on display in the House Chamber through January 2, 2020.  It will shine brightly for thousands of Texans and Capitol visitors to enjoy throughout the holiday season.

Through the District Christmas Ornament Project, House members have invited constituents to use their artistic ability to create an ornament that represents the district each year.  On its eleventh year, Hempstead ISD was chosen by Representative Bell to represent District 3. Hernandez answered the call to create a unique ornament that would represent her home town.

The special glass ornament submitted by Hempstead ISD, will remain a part of history as it was photographed and cataloged in the annual House Chamber photo album.

Thank you, Representative Bell for choosing Hempstead ISD for this honor and thank you, Guadalupe for sharing your artistic talents with the State of Texas.  Hempstead ISD… One Town. One Team. One Goal!
