The Bobcat Grill will open for the public on Wednesday, January 22. The restaurant is run by the advanced culinary arts class at Hempstead High School and will be open from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week to serve freshly prepared meals. For hours of operation, please check the Bobcat Grill Calendar on the district website.
“Please understand that this is a teaching restaurant staffed entirely by our high school culinary arts students,” said Chef Ryan. “Our days and hours of operation can and will change occasionally due to school holidays, student testing and student schedules.”
All students are state certified in food handling or management and all food is double-checked by the instructor prior to service. “Please allow extra time for your order on occasion as we are still in the learning process,” said Chef Ryan.
In preparation for the grand opening, the students have worked hard to master their menu items and service time. The students were excited to put their skills to work on Wednesday, January 15, as they hosted the Hempstead Garden Club for a private event.
Mary Ann Drawl, a hostess for the monthly meeting, thanked Chef Ryan and the culinary students for preparing a great meal as she presented a donation to the school from the Garden Club. Dr. Angela Gutsch, HISD Superintendent, also took a moment to update the group on other career ready options that will be offered in the future.
The students look forward to serving the public. Show your support and join us for the Grand Opening of The Bobcat Grill at 425 FM 1488 in Hempstead. Hempstead ISD… One Town. One Team. One Goal!
