Hempstead Student-Athletes Recognized at Senior Night
Ten Hempstead High School student-athletes met with family and friends pregame Friday night at Bobcat Stadium for Senior Night. The recognition took place earlier than usual this year due to COVID.
“Senior Night gives us the chance to honor and to thank our student-athletes and their families for representing and supporting our district,” Hempstead Athletic Director Bobby Spain said. “It’s a way to show them that we appreciate all the time and effort that they have put into our athletic programs.”
Justin Macias and Ken'Daylon Wilson represented the football team. Alex Munos was recognized for cross country. Teammate Qweverian London was honored for being in cross country and as band manager. Anahi Cifuentes was recognized as a member of the cheerleading squad and for being the band’s Piccolo-Woodwind Colonel.
Jose Rodriguez, Trumpet Section Leader; Aneliz Rodriguez, Trumpet and Drum Major; Gustavo Moreno, Trumpet and Brass Colonel; Sergio Vazquez, Trumpet; and Sirmajee Beckman, Baritone, were honored for their dedication to the Bobcat band.
By a vote of their band peers, Vazquez and Rodriguez were also announced as the 2020 Band Beau and Sweetheart during a halftime ceremony.
