Hempstead ISD Remains Closed Through End of School Year

In accordance with the governor’s orders, Hempstead ISD (HISD) has extended the suspension of normal operations and will remain closed through the end of the school year.

While schools are closed, HISD will continue its remote learning program, which provides comprehensive learning opportunities for all students. We will also continue to provide the Mobile and Curbside Meal Service to students 18 years & younger.

We are all in this together and encourage everyone to be flexible as we move forward. We understand that it hard for parents and teachers alike to make the adjustment to distance learning.

With the suspension of normal operations HISD urges students, parents, and community members to please follow guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC):

  • Stay home unless absolutely necessary,
  • Do not gather in groups larger than 10,
  • Stay 6 feet away from others if you do go out,
  • Wash hands for at least 20 seconds, and
  • Clean frequently used surfaces often.

Please know that we miss you, we’re thinking about you, and we are (virtually) here for you.  If you have any questions, call our Helpline at (979) 826-3304 and press 0.

HISD will provide additional guidance to staff, students, parents, and its community in the coming days. All COVID-19 related information, including details on remote learning, can be found on the COVID-19 Updates page.
