Accreditation Status

Hempstead ISD Accreditation Status for 2019-2020

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) awards an accreditation status to each public school district and charter school. The accreditation status is based on the academic accountability rating and financial ratings from the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas. A district or charter must be accredited by the state to operate as a public school.

The district accreditation status for 2019-2020 are listed below:

2019 FIRST Rating: C - Meets Standard
2019 Accountability Rating: C
2019-2020 Accreditation Status - ACCREDITED

The accreditation statuses for school district and charter schools across the state are released by TEA in February.

Under the Texas Education Code, the commissioner of education annually assigns accreditation statuses to each school district and charter school. Accreditation statuses for the 2019-2020 school year include: Accredited (1,185); Accredited-Warned (6); Accredited-Probation (1); Not Accredited-Revoked (1); and Pending (1).

2015-2016 Accreditation Status - Accredited-Probation
A status of Accredited-Probation means that a district exhibits deficiencies in performance that, if not addressed, will lead to revocation of the district's accreditation status.

2014-2015 Accreditation Status - Accredited-Warned
A status of Accredited-Warned means that a district exhibits deficiencies in performance that, if not addressed, will lead to probation or revocation of the district's accreditation status.
