Hempstead ISD Families and Staff,
The days are long but the years are short. That is a common phrase I’ve heard used to describe raising children, but it also applies to every school year! Even though we’ve had some challenges to overcome, this year has flown by, and we are already nearing the last day of school.
The end of the year is an exciting time for students and staff, filled with class parties, field trips, field days, prom, and of course the day all our students are working toward - graduation. Graduation is the culmination of all we have done together for the last 13 years, and there is no greater joy than watching our students’ smiles and excitement as they move to the next level of their lives.
We want these last few weeks to be memorable, but we also want to finish strong. We still have work to do between now and when school is out on May 26. Families, help us by encouraging your students to make good choices, so we can focus on keeping the last weeks of school fun and engaging. I know that together, we can end the school year on a positive note.
Even though I am just getting started, I can tell you I am already so proud of the excellence I see across Hempstead ISD. We have tremendous staff, a supportive community, a committed school board, and we have the great privilege of serving amazing students and their families. This is a wonderful place, and I am humbled to be part of HISD. Bobcat Spirit is strong!
I hope you will come up and say hi when you see me on campus or around town. There is nothing more important to me than building relationships throughout this great community. You may have heard it said - If you want to go fast, go alone; but if you want to go far, go together. I look forward to the opportunity to visit with our students, their families, staff members and community members, as we work together to build Hempstead ISD into an even greater district than it already is.
Thank you for being part of what is next for HISD!
