Dear Hempstead Families and Staff,
We are deeply saddened by the tragic incident that took place today at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. Our thoughts are with all those affected by this devastating event.
Please know that the safety of our students and staff is always our top priority, and we encourage all our students, staff, and parents to report any suspicious activity they see or hear.
We want to assure you that we do have procedures and plans in place to deal with emergency situations.
For the remainder of the week there will be increased police presence and supervision at each of our schools. Counselors will be available to respond to students' concerns and needs as appropriate and District administrators will be on campuses to provide additional support.
Anytime a tragedy like this happens it reminds us of how precious life is and how fortunate we are to work with young learners. It falls to each of us today to reassure our students and colleagues that we will continue to provide a safe environment for learning and stay diligent to keep our schools safe.
As we close out this school year, please continue to keep the Robb Elementary School community in your thoughts.
