HHM 2024

Hempstead ISD is proud to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 - October 15. Throughout the month the district will take time to celebrate the rich culture, history, and many contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.

The observation began in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon B. Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period. This year the National Hispanic Heritage Month theme is “Driving Prosperity, Power and Progress in America.”

Hempstead ISD is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month by featuring staff members, students, and campuses on our social media pages. If you are interested in sharing more about your Hispanic/Latino culture, you can participate in our #HempsteadHHM campaign. Please fill out the Hispanic Heritage Month Campaign form to contribute.

Throughout the month, Hempstead ISD will highlight campus events and celebrations in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.
