Truancy and Seat Time

Welcome to our High School Truancy Awareness Page, where we aim to shed light on the importance of regular school attendance and the consequences of truancy. At Hempstead High School, we believe that consistent attendance is fundamental to academic success and personal growth. This platform serves as a resource for students, parents, and educators to understand the impact of truancy on educational outcomes and provides valuable insights into proactive measures to address and prevent absenteeism. Together, let's foster a culture of engagement, support, and commitment to ensure every student reaches their full potential.

Punctuality plays a pivotal role in a student's academic journey at Hempstead High School. Our firm tardy policy underscores the importance of timely attendance.

  • Three tardies result in lunch detention

  • Five tardies lead to two lunch detentions

  • Seven or more tardies prompt In-School Suspension (ISS)

Notably, three tardies equate to an absence, and being over 10 minutes tardy is treated similarly. This policy aims to instill responsibility and uphold a culture of respect for education.
