Hempstead ISD will host a New Student Registration Event on August 1-2, 2022 at the Hempstead ISD Bobcat Den, 2432 9th St.
The Back to School enrollment event is for all new students in Hempstead ISD. New students include students who have never attended a school in Hempstead ISD or a student who previously attended a school in Hempstead ISD but withdrew before the school year and needs to re-enroll.
Dates and Times:
Monday, Aug. 1 | 2 to 7 p.m.
Tuesday, Aug. 2 | 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
During the event families will have an opportunity to fill out or turn in their 2022-2023 New Student Registration Packet and move through different stations to complete the enrollment process. Any families who are unable to attend the scheduled registration events can visit their child's campus to complete the enrollment process beginning Thursday, August 4.
Families should bring the following required documents to enroll their student(s):
A parent or legal guardian must enroll the student (provide a valid State Issued I.D.). Legal guardians must have legal guardianship papers. Also please provide a copy of the divorce decree signed and dated by the judge stating custody, if applicable.
Two forms of residency verification listing the parent/guardian's name and physical address. Use any two of the following:
Property Deed
HISD Property Tax Statement
Current Lease/Rental Agreement or Mortgage Statement
Current Utility Statement
Current Personal Business mail (no unsolicited mailings)
Student Social Security Card
Student State Certified Birth Certificate
Last Report Card/Transcripts-Documentation showing grade level
Immunization Record
Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten
Pre-Kindergarten students must be 3 or 4 years old on or before September 1st of the current school year. Pre-kindergarten will be offered to all four-year-olds residing in Hempstead ISD, regardless of their family income level. Three-year-olds must be Hempstead ISD residents and meet one of the following requirements to attend. Hempstead ISD will accept transfer students if space allows after we have enrolled students residing in Hempstead ISD.
- The student does not speak or comprehend the English language.
- The student is educationally disadvantaged if the student is eligible to participate in National Free or Reduced Price Lunch Program. Recent income documentation must be furnished.
- Kindergarten students must be 5 years old on or before September 1 of the current school year.
- The student is homeless, as defined by 42 USC § 11434a
- The student is the child of an active duty member of the Armed Forces of the U.S.
- The student is the child of a member of the Armed Forces who were injured or killed while serving in active duty.
- The student is or has ever been in the conservatorship (foster care) of the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) following an adversary hearing.
- The student is the child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award (peace officer, firefighter, emergency medical first responder).
