Hempstead Family,

One of the best ways our community can measure the effectiveness of our schools is watching our graduates make their mark once they pass through the doors of Hempstead High School for the last time. Our district vision is - Creating lifelong learners by establishing a strong foundation - and there is nothing better than when a foundation laid in Hempstead ISD leads to success beyond our wildest dreams.

That is the case for HHS graduate, and former Oklahoma Sooner safety Delarrin Turner-Yell, who just completed a highly successful four-year career at OU, and was drafted fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft on Saturday by the Denver Broncos. In his final year at OU, Delarrin was an All-Big 12 Second Team selection.

We congratulate Delarrin on his successful collegiate career, and wish him the best in his journey to the NFL. Delarrin may be one of our more visible success stories, but I can assure you, there are countless Hempstead High School graduates out there making a difference in our community and across our state.

Do you have a success story you want us to highlight? Email me @oneilh@hempsteadisd.org and tell me about it!
