Hempstead ISD Names Assistant Superintendent of Learning and Leading

Hempstead ISD named Brittany Anderson Assistant Superintendent of Learning and Leading.

Anderson will be responsible for assisting the Superintendent in the overall leadership, management, and operations of the District. She will also be responsible for the planning and implementation of program goals related to areas of supervision and will oversee several departments including Campus Leadership, Guidance & Counseling, Health Services, Human Resources, Student Services, Teaching & Learning, Technology, and Visual & Performing Arts. 

“Brittany brings 17-plus years of experience to the role and is enthusiastic about supporting district staff and students,” Superintendent Herbert O’Neil said. “Her experience will be an asset to provide the training, coaching, and tools needed to help our students and staff make academic progress.” 

She joins Hempstead ISD from Greenville ISD, where she has served as principal of Travis/6th Grade Center since 2020. In her role during the COVID-19 pandemic, she increased the overall performance of the campus by double digits.

Anderson began her career in education as a fifth-grade math teacher at Aaron Parker Elementary School in North Lamar Independent School Board, before joining Mansfield Elementary School in Desoto Parish School Board, in Louisiana. During her time at Mansfield Elementary as a teacher, TAP master teacher, assistant principal, and then principal she led her campus to tremendous academic gains. She received several awards including 2018-2019 Desoto Parish School Board Principal of the Year, 2009-2010 Mansfield Elementary Teacher of the Year, her campus was named a TOP Gains Honoree School, and her campus became the Number Two Elementary School in the State of Louisiana for School Performance Score (SPS) Growth. 

“I am happy to be here and I look forward to helping students, families, and the community of Hempstead to grow and excel,” Anderson said. 

Anderson received a bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M Commerce and a Master of Education in Education Leadership from the University of Louisiana - Monroe.
