Hempstead ISD is giving back this holiday season through community service projects. Schools across the district are participating in a season of giving and are taking the initiative to help the community and students across the district.
Hempstead Early Childhood Center
Hempstead Early Childhood is hosting a holiday toy drive now through December 16. The community is encouraged to drop off new unwrapped toys valued from $5-10 for their students. The campus hopes to send each of its students home with a toy before the holidays. Hempstead High School students have volunteered to wrap the toys for the students. For more information please contact HECC at 979-221-2021.
Hempstead Elementary School
Hempstead Elementary School students and staff will be decorating Christmas Trees to be displayed at the Hempstead Rec Center on December 12. Community members are encouraged to stop by and vote on their favorite tree from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at the Rec Center. The elementary school is also hosting a food and toy drive from December 12-16. You can drop items off between 7:10-7:40 a.m. in the morning car rider line at HES. The food drive will benefit local families and the toy drive will benefit HES students. For more information please contact the campus at 979-826-2452.
Hempstead Middle School
For the last few weeks, Hempstead Middle School Beta Club students have been collecting blankets for a schoolwide blanket drive. The students collect more than 13 blankets and will be donating them to the Star of Hope Mission next week.
Hempstead High School
Hempstead High School Student Council is collecting canned goods and other nonperishable items for the holidays. Items can be donated and dropped off in the front office through December 16. Each class is competing to see who can collect the most donations. The group will be donating all items to a local nonprofit organization that helps collect and distribute food to those in need in Hempstead.
Hempstead ISD Athletics will also be giving back this season! Student-athletes, their parents and coaches will be spreading holiday cheer during their Christmas Community Service Project. They will be delivering goodie bags to the elderly in the community and singing Christmas Carols.
