Hempstead ISD has announced a new summer program for incoming 9-11 grade students. The program, called Intro to Welding, will offer students the opportunity to earn one high school credit and an NCCER core certification through Blinn College.
The program will run from June 5-29, 2023, with Fridays off, and will consist of six-hour days. Students will travel to Blinn College for two weeks to complete their certification course. Sign-up for the program is available now, but space is limited.
The Intro to Welding program offers students an exciting opportunity to learn valuable skills in welding, while also earning high school credit and certification from Blinn College. The program is free and is available through a CTE grant. Additionally, the course will allow students to have more flexibility in their school schedules or to catch up on credits during the summer.
