Hempstead ISD recognized Donall Watson, bus driver, during the June 17 school board meeting, after he was named 2023-2024 PCAT Bus Driver of the Year by the Property Casualty Alliance of Texas (PCAT).
School bus drivers have an important role in education. Bus drivers safely transport our students to and from school daily. They are the first school personnel that students see in the morning and the last they see in the afternoon. They help set the tone for student's daily experiences.
“A smile or a friendly face can do wonders,” Watson said. “My favorite part of being a bus driver is making sure I get the students safely and on time to school.”
Watson has served as a bus driver for Hempstead ISD Transportation Department for 13 years and has driven school buses for the last 17 years. He originally received his commercial driving license (CDL) in 1975.
