60 Gulf Coast Association for Pupil Transportation members traveled to Hempstead ISD to attend the monthly GCAPT meeting. This was the first time any district in Waller County has hosted the GCAPT meeting.
The goal of the organization is to discuss transportation-related topics, student management, SPED training, and other best practices. The organization offers its members access to leadership training, professional development, and certifications.
City of Hempstead Mayor Katherine Ward, Hempstead ISD Superintendent Herbert O’Neil, Interim Executive Director of Operations Artis Edwards, and Hempstead High School principal LaKesha Morgan participated in the meeting by offering welcoming words.
“It was great to host a meeting in Hempstead and offer transportation directors in our Waller County area an opportunity to attend their first meeting,” Hempstead ISD Transportation Director, Quinn Navarre said. “ It gave them a chance to learn and network with other district colleagues.”
Hempstead High School FFA students delivered the pledges and HHS Cheerleaders and the Bobcat Band welcomed the guests to the event.
