Hempstead ISD Staff

Hempstead ISD’s November board meeting was marked by a moment of heartfelt recognition as Anna Davenport, Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent, was surprised with the Superintendent's Higher Heights Award. This honor celebrates individuals whose dedication and commitment embody the district’s mission of going to "Higher Heights."

Davenport’s journey to this honor began as a proud Hempstead ISD graduate. "Working for Hempstead ISD is my way of giving back to the district and community that shaped me," she shared. Both Davenport and her children are graduates of the district, making her connection to Hempstead ISD deeply personal. Over the years, she has served in a variety of roles, from supporting students in Pre-K, Resource, and Life Skills, to working as a campus secretary before stepping into her current role as Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent—a position she has held for over a decade.

This long-standing tenure has been a source of immense personal and professional growth. "Serving as the Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent for over 10 years has been incredibly rewarding. I’ve had the honor of making an impact not only in the lives of students but also in the lives of parents and community members," she explained.

She emphasized her approach to challenges and successes alike: "Being a supportive, positive piece of the whole puzzle—whether it’s for the Superintendent, the Board of Trustees, a co-worker, parent, or community member—is something I am proud of and prayerfully have served well."

When asked about her motivation, Davenport discussed her deep care for Hempstead ISD and its community. "If there is a need, I believe it should be met, even if it’s not in my job description," she said. This unwavering commitment to service exemplifies the "Higher Heights" spirit.

For Davenport, receiving the award was a moving experience. "It was an unexpected recognition that touched me deeply. So many of us pour our hearts into the success of Hempstead ISD, not seeking recognition, but this honor reminds me of the importance of saying thank you and showing appreciation."

Looking to the future, Davenport’s goals remain focused on providing exemplary service and contributing to the district’s success. "I desire nothing more than for the district to flourish and to aid in that endeavor," she stated.

Her advice to others is a testament to her character: "Take ownership of your role. Remember that you are important. Strive to be your best, grow from challenges, and stay positive. Love what you do—it will show."

Anna Davenport’s dedication, compassion, and tireless efforts continue to set a standard of excellence at Hempstead ISD. She is an inspiring example of the power of commitment and care in achieving "Higher Heights" for the district and community.
