School Counselor Week 2025

Every year, during the first full week of February, schools nationwide celebrate National School Counseling Week, recognizing the role school counselors play in supporting student success. These dedicated professionals are more than just academic advisors. They are mentors, advocates, and problem solvers who help guide students through their educational journey and personal growth.

At Hempstead ISD, school counselors serve as a bridge between students, families, and educators, ensuring every student receives the support they need to thrive. Whether helping a student navigate career and college planning, providing emotional support, or assisting with social challenges, their impact reaches beyond the classroom.

“Our school counselors are truly the heart of our campuses,” Superintendent Herbert O’Neil said. “They provide a safe space for students, encourage their dreams, and equip them with the skills to succeed in life.”

Throughout the week, schools will show appreciation for their counselors. The goal is not only to honor their dedication but also to raise awareness of the essential role they play in shaping the future of our students.

As we celebrate National School Counseling Week, we encourage students, staff, and families to take a moment to express gratitude to the counselors who work tirelessly to support student well-being and success. Their guidance and compassion make a difference every single day.
