Hempstead High School Beta Club students recently competed in the Senior State Convention in Grapevine, Texas.
BETA Club is a national organization that promotes academic achievement, character, leadership, and service among elementary and secondary school students. Students participate in academic, creative arts, leadership development and community service projects during the competition.
During the convention, nine Hempstead High School students advanced to the National Convention. Each year, students who excel in their state competitions qualify to compete at the National Beta Convention.
The following students have advanced to Nationals, held this June in Orlando, Florida:

Jasmine Rodriguez - 2nd Sculpture
Liliana Herrera - 3rd Drawing
Hayden Payne - 2nd Woodworking
Yoselin Bocanegra - 2nd B&W Photography
Jasmine Rodriguez - 3rd On-site Painting
Mischa Martinez - 2nd Pottery
"We are incredibly proud of our students for their achievements and for representing Hempstead High School well," said Christine Herbert, BETA Club Sponsor. "Advancing to the national level is an exciting opportunity, and we look forward to seeing them compete in Orlando this summer."
The National BETA Convention will allow the students to compete against other talented students from across the country.
