The Hempstead ISD Board of Trustees met on Monday, March 24. 

Before the start of the March board meeting, Hempstead Early Childhood Center students led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance and the Pledge to the Texas Flag. During the meeting, the March Students, Campus Teachers, and Support Staff of the Month were celebrated.

Information Items

During the meeting, Hempstead ISD Chief Operations Officer Artis Edwards presented Strategic Plan Goal 4 updates. Goal 4 focuses on creating a physically and emotionally safe and effective environment where students can learn and teachers can teach at high levels.

The following action items were approved during the meeting:

  • Approved Budget Amendment #4.

  • Approved Board Resolution updating the District Investment Officer, removing Shawn Faciane and adding Amy Carter.

  • Approved updating contacts for Lone Star Investment Pool, removal of Shawn K. Faciane and the addition of Amy Carter, CFO.

  • Approved an Order Authorizing the Issuance, Sale and Delivery of Hempstead Independent School District Unlimited Tax School Building Bonds, Series 2025; and Containing Other Matters Related Thereto.

  • Approved a TEA Low Attendance Waiver for February 3, 2025, due to safety concerns from parents.

  • Approved OER Transition Plan.

  • Approved the 2025-2026 Certification of Provision of Instructional Materials.

  • Approved a Board Resolution Nominating Herbert O'Neil, Jr. for TASB's Superintendent of the Year.

The April Board meeting will be held on Monday, April 21, and will begin at 6 p.m. in the Administration Building Board Room.
