ECHS Class of 2029

Hempstead Early College High School held an induction ceremony for its incoming freshmen cohort on Thursday, April 10.

The Class of 2029 will be the second freshmen class of Hempstead ISD’s Early College High School when the 2025-2025 school year begins. Hempstead ISD Coordinator of Advanced Academics and CTE Tanya Simons delivered the welcome, and Hempstead ISD Superintendent Herbert O’Neil was the keynote speaker.

Superintendent O’Neil congratulated the incoming freshmen for choosing Early College High School, where they will have a path from high school to post-secondary education.

"Today marks the beginning of a journey that will open doors for each of you—not just to a high school diploma, but to college, careers, and a future filled with opportunity,” O’Neil said. “By choosing Early College High School, you've already taken your first bold step toward greatness."

Superintendent O’Neil applauded the students for choosing a program where they will earn not only a high school diploma but also an associate’s degree from Blinn College.

“We want all of our students to graduate with the necessary tools to attain their maximum potential and prepare them for success in college, career, military, and life.”

During the ceremony, the students received their official Early College High School certificates from Hempstead High School principal LaKesha Morgan. The students will officially begin their college careers on May 2, during their Blinn College Signing Day.
