The Hempstead ISD Board of Trustees approved the 2023-2024 academic calendar at the January 23 board meeting. Hempstead ISD students will return to school on August 21, 2023.
Teachers and campus staff will return on August 7 and teachers that are new to the district will report on August 1 for New Teacher Inservice.
The scheduled breaks on the calendar are Thanksgiving break from Nov. 20-24; winter break from Dec. 22 to Jan. 5, 2024; and spring break from March 11-15.
The calendar was drafted by the Hempstead ISD District Education Improvement Committee, which collected a variety of data and input from parents and district staff members. The district held a survey for community feedback in early January.
