Hempstead ISD is announcing its participation in the Seamless Summer Option Program (SSO), offered by the Texas Department of Agriculture. The SSO program provides nutritious meals to children in the local community during the summer when schools are closed and the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program is not in operation.
Any child from ages 0-18 is eligible to receive breakfast and lunch at no cost. Individuals aged 19 and above, who have been determined to be mentally or physically disabled by a state or local agency, may also be served a meal.
The SSO will offer meals at the Hempstead High School/Middle School Cafeteria (Bobcat Den) and the Hempstead Recreation Center.
Meals will be offered at the Bobcat Den Monday through Thursday from June 5, 2023, through June 29, 2023. Breakfast will be served from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and Lunch will be served from 12:35 to 1:35 p.m.
Meals will be offered at the Hempstead Recreation Center on Monday through Thursday from June 5, 2023, through June 29, 2023. Breakfast will be served from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and Lunch will be served from 12 to 1 p.m. The Rec Center will not serve summer meals in July.
