Hempstead Elementary first-grade students wrapped up their Earth History unit with a fun and creative hands-on activity. Using Play-Doh, the students made their own fossils while reviewing key concepts about how fossils are formed and what they can tell us about Earth's past.

Students shaped the Play-Doh into various objects, then pressed miniature dinosaurs, aquatic animals, and shells, into the dough to create fossil-like impressions. This interactive project helped them understand the process of fossilization and the valuable information fossils provide about ancient life and environments.

"This activity was a great way to bring the lesson to life," Hempstead Elementary First-Grade Teacher, Tabitha Collins said. "The students were engaged and excited to see how fossils are made and what they can reveal about history."

The activity provided a fun and memorable way for students to connect with their lessons and gain a deeper understanding of the Earth and its history.
