Photos of HHS Seniors Talk College with Blinn Representatives

Senior year is full of excitement. College visits, senior night, senior photos, signing day, and graduation. Hempstead High School seniors are getting a head start by meeting with college representatives.

Hempstead High School seniors recently had an opportunity to sit with college representatives from Blinn College to talk about various educational opportunities after graduation. During the visit, the Blinn admissions representatives assisted students with college applications.

Hempstead High School alumnus Kyle Lucherk, Manager of Enrollment Services for Blinn College District, was thrilled to visit with the students and discuss the academic options available at Blinn.

“I am excited to continue helping grow Blinn College’s partnership with Hempstead ISD,” Lucherk said. “Informing students of the many academic and technical educational opportunities after high school is important in building and developing a better community.”

In the last month, 52 seniors have met with advisors and started their applications to Texas colleges and trade schools and 29 have been accepted to Blinn. Starting junior year of high school, students can apply for dual credit college courses. Dual Credit allows students to earn college credit while in high school.

“With increasing the number of dual credit options available to Hempstead students starting their junior year, they are getting the opportunity to start earning college credit while simultaneously earning credit for high school graduation. As an alumnus of Hempstead, who took dual credit courses and later attended Blinn as a full-time student, I am honored to have the opportunity to go back to my high school and assist these students with the many opportunities available.”

The Blinn College Enrollment Management team will continue visiting the high school throughout the year to visit with students about post-high school educational opportunities.
