Hempstead Independent School District has announced that LaKesha Morgan will be the interim principal of Hempstead High School, effective immediately. Morgan is currently an assistant principal at Hempstead High School.
In her 17 years in education, she has been a school improvement officer, a Reading/Language Arts teacher and department chair, and has coached volleyball, basketball, track, and soccer. Before joining Hempstead High School she served as the Brenham High School assistant principal for six years.
Morgan is committed to building relationships, cultivating school pride, and ensuring students have a memorable high school experience from ninth-grade through graduation.
“I am dedicated to continuing building positive relationships, rigorous learning, and creating an environment that encourages our students to celebrate their unique strengths,” Morgan said.
This year, she has created new opportunities for students to learn and grow, she has hosted dynamic pep rallies, and she even started a campus step team. As a campus administrator, Morgan believes it is important to not only empower students but to also empower the teachers on her campus.
Morgan is passionate about providing a high-quality learning experience for students and believes students should be the center of all decisions. Morgan wants families to know that she is present to make every effort to help their child reach their fullest potential.
“Relationships between our families and the school are vital to the success of our students. I encourage our families to become involved in every way possible and I look forward to the collaboration and support we will be able to give each other.”
Morgan graduated from Prairie View A&M University with a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a master’s in Educational Administration. She received her superintendent certification in 2021 from Lamar University.
