Congratulations are in order for the Hempstead High School LadyCats powerlifting team. The team competed in their very first meet ever and scored enough points to win the entire meet. Each of the members of the team walked away with a medal. The meet was held at Mayde Creek High School and they competed against Navasota, Mayde Creek, and East Bernard.
“I was really nervous to compete at first, but once you actually start the adrenaline kicks in and you realize you can do anything you put your mind to,” Marriah Trujillo said.
Trujillo and the team of nine are excited for what’s to come and look forward to future meets.
