The Hempstead High School Color Guard has made history by winning their first National Title.

The team competed on Saturday, March 24, 2023, in the MA Dance and Marching Auxiliaries National Competition held at the University of Texas at Arlington. The team won the National Championship in the Color Guard Ensemble category for the first time.

The Hempstead Color Guard has always performed well at this national competition. Since 2013, they have earned 4th through 2nd places in ensemble and team categories. However, this year was different. The team, composed of Kaylee Lewis, Emely Hernandez, Candice Hoover, Anahi Garcia, and Casey Seets, showed exceptional skills and artistry in their performance, earning them the top spot.

The Hempstead Color Guard worked tirelessly under the guidance of their sponsors, Charli Villarreal and Vedia Garcia, who is also the team's choreographer. The team members pushed themselves to perfect their performance, and it paid off. Their dedication and hard work have made the Hempstead community proud.

"We are thrilled to bring this championship title home to Hempstead," said Director of Bands, Ronald Walker. "This win is a testament to the talent, dedication, and commitment of our color guard members."

The Hempstead High School Color Guard's win at the MA Dance and Marching Auxiliaries National Competition is a big achievement. The team has set a new standard for excellence. Congratulations to the Hempstead High School Color Guard on their well-deserved win!
