Conde

Hempstead ISD is proud to recognize Adriana Conde as the December recipient of the Superintendent’s Higher Heights Award. Her dedication, resilience, and unwavering commitment to her students make her a standout member of our district. Her journey and accomplishments are a testament to her hard work and the impact she has on her students.

Before joining Hempstead ISD, Conde worked as a special education paraprofessional in an ABU unit at the primary level. Feeling the need to challenge herself and grow professionally, she took a leap of faith in the summer of 2022 and applied for a position at Hempstead Middle School. Despite initial fears of working with older students, she quickly found her stride.

“I’m so glad I chose Hempstead ISD,” Conde shared. “I’ve grown so much as an educator. The community, staff, and students are amazing.”

Conde’s time at Hempstead ISD has been marked by incredible growth and her growth in contributions across her campus. From assisting in the front office as a receptionist and translating for parents during important meetings to supporting students in the classroom and staff when needed, her versatility and dedication shine. Recently, she embraced the role of ESL paraprofessional at the middle school and even took the bold step of going back to school to earn her degree.

“All these accomplishments would not be possible without the support of my colleagues, family, and friends,” she expressed.

She believes her work positively impacts students, staff, and the community by serving as a role model. “I believe we are open books, and it is important to me that I carry myself in a respectful way,” she said. She recognizes the responsibility educators have to uphold the highest standards and strives to be a positive influence in every interaction.

Conde draws inspiration from the lyrics of Matthew West’s song, “If Not Us, Then Who?” This sentiment fuels her drive to go above and beyond in her role.

“Our students need us more than ever. They keep me going, and they are the reason I often say, ‘If not me, then who?” she said.

Taking on the role of ESL paraprofessional has been a defining experience for Conde this school year. While moments of self-doubt arose, the support from teachers, administrators, and family helped her persevere.

“I’ve seen growth in my students, and that gives me hope and assurance that I’m going in the right direction,” she noted.

Receiving the Higher Heights Award is a meaningful recognition for Conde. “It assures me that my hard work is paying off in great ways,” she said. She credits her colleagues for paving the way for her growth and success as an educator. Conde’s goals align with the district’s mission to equip students with the tools they need to succeed.

“I intend to positively impact my students with the knowledge I’ve gained over the years and the knowledge I’m receiving from my degree at Grand Canyon University,” she explained.

Her advice to others is rooted in faith and balance.

“Whatever you do in life, make sure to include God. He’s the only one that can clarify our purpose in life,” she shared. She also emphasizes the importance of enjoying the journey. “Take a moment to listen to those around you. Enjoy time off when available. This will make a huge difference.”

Hempstead ISD celebrates Adriana Conde’s outstanding achievements and the positive impact she has made within our district. Her dedication and determination embody the spirit of reaching “Higher Heights” and inspire us all to strive for excellence.
